Alcohol is becoming a part of almost everybody’s life especially teenagers at a very fast rate. Nobody can deny this fact. Not only just people drink for celebrations but also for fun. But there are increasing number of people who spend money when they drunk. After an alcohol fueled night out, in the early hours of the morning, people often go online to buy all kind of weird things. But don’ you worry, here is a new app – DrnkPay, stops you from spending money when you are drunk.
Creation of DrnkPay
DrnkPay is a new smartphone app that blocks your credit card for around 12 hours if it thinks that you are too much drunk to shop. People often end up regretting making purchase when drunk; DrnkPay serves the people of stopping this act. UK financial consultancy company iBe TSE developed this app after a research in which more than half of British alcohol drinkers admitted that they regret the purchase which they made during intoxication. The survey also revealed few bizarre examples of things bought when intoxicated such as 30 pairs of flip-flops, flying lessons, lifetime membership of rowing for someone who does not row.
Purpose of DrnkPay
Francesco Scarnera who is a CEO of iBe TSE – “There are many of us with this problem so here is a simple solution using latest technology”. DrnkPay lock your card and stop you from making further payments once the person hit self-imposed limit. The decision is entirely yours whether to block all the payments or just few weak points like clubs, takeaways or flights.
How does this DrnkPay app work?
The very question which arises in everyone’s mind is that how does this app know when we boozed. Well, that is why it has companion breathalyzer which connects to the smartphone and sends data to DrnkPay when you blow into it. After it decides that you are drunk, it locks your credit card for 12 hours. Why 12 hours? Because according to iBe TSE a person needs plenty of time to sober up.
The problem may arise as some people won’t like to blow into a breathalyzer in public. Don’t you worry; there is an alternative which is less conspicuous- a bracelet like biosensor. It analyzes the content of alcohol in the bloodstream of a user. It is very obvious that a user has to link his/her credit/debit card to DrnkPay. A user can set the limit of drinks and app will only block the card once they go over it. You have another feature of only blocking the certain things. It comes along with a “Help me out” feature, which calls Uber to take you home in emergency.
Currently, iBe TSE is in talk with various banks to make this app, DrnkPay available to their clients for free.
